I recently fell while taking a shower. I hit my head and had eleven stitches near my eye. I feel safer now with this very good quality mat. Very pleased.

The underwater design on this bath mat is sweet. The suction cups are not great-they aren't very strong, but that doesn't matter much because the rubber material doesn't tend to slip anyway. If I had it to do over again, I would have ordered a different color, though. I went with the rose color because slate was out of stock... but you know what? A mauve-colored mat in a bathtub looks really old fashioned and kind of silly. Still, that's not their fault. I should have consulted someone with actual decorating taste before ordering it.
Anyway, good mat, good price, cute design. Just say "no" to mauve. Or rose. Or whatever they're calling it.

I am supposing that in the most loose sense of the word, this is a bath mat. It looks a bath mat and has the little suction cups on the bottom. So, how can you go wrong?
Well, let me tell you. That smell wow. I don't consider myself a sensitive person and I figured that any production smell will quickly fade. But, every time I passed by the bathroom this horrible blue stench would slap me in the face. I learned to live with it for a few days.
In addition, it's a bit thin less than bath mat, more than rubber sheet. It behaves more like a rubber towel. Other bath mats I would just lay one end on the tub and let it flop open into position. Not this. With this, I have to fan it out on the bottom of the tub and straighten out the wrinkles.
I also hang the mat on the inside of the shower door. With all previous mats, I would fold them in half, suction side outward, and flip onto the mat hanger. Not this mat. I would need to do a balancing act to thread the mat onto the hanger while standing on one foot because it's so thin.
Also, the suction cups do a poor job of gripping. Because the mat is so thin and the rubber is so flexible the mat slides around on the bottom of the tub. It's a bit of balancing act to keep on top of it more like surfing than showering. Then it bunches up around the drain and prevents the water from draining.
Finally I just ate the money, tossed it out, and purchased a well-known brand which I have used previously. Stick with what works. This doesn't.

The mats are as described and by using them in pairs they are perfect for a large walk-in shower. It took a while for the rubber almost petroleum like "odor" to wear off however; After a couple of weeks they were fine.

I read all the reviews and thought I'd take a chance. Boy, was I wrong, this mat STINKS!!! When we got it, it was horribly stinky, we put it outside and in the sunshine for weeks, when we brought it in, it still stunk. The stink was so bad it filled the bathroom and came out into the hallway. We put it in the tub and filled it with vinegar and water for several days and nights and that helped a bit, at least made the stink tolerable. Finally, after FIVE MONTHS it no longer smells. So, if you've got the time or you don't mind the smell, buy this mat. It is very long, which is great and the price is very reasonable, if these things weren't true, I'd give it no stars.
