Moen T4171BN 3-Function Transfer Valve Trim Kit without Valve, Brushed Nickel

While on vacation in Costa Rica my hotel had an overhead shower. The model there was small, very little water pressure but still it was great.

2 months later, I installed one in my own bathroom but even better!

For my project, I ordered 4 main items from Amazon:

3. Moen 3372 M-PACT Three function 1/2-Inch CC Transfer Valve

4. Danze D481316PNV 6-Inch Ceiling Mount Shower Arm with Flange, Polished Nickel

I drilled a 1 inch hole in the ceiling, mounted a 2X4 across rafters in the attic and lowered the chrome pipe through the ceiling and attached the showerhead. Ran pex pipe across the attic above through the wall to the valve below. Cut out the sheetrock to access the shower wall and installed the valve, and then the trim kit in the shower. I am no plumber but did my homework and found the job easy to do.

In my search for a shower-head, my first thought was to go cheap. But in my research, decided to get an 8 or 9 inch model with control lever. I decided on this Moen model for brand, size, water adjustment and being Made in USA. The only downside, it was expensive but there are others for far more money, and others for half the price but Made in China and without the water control lever!

Its been 4 days since I installed it and its amazing. The lever allows for a gentle rain or a forceful downward spray. I should mention the water pressure on my home is very light but excellent with Moen's superb design that adds some force to the water. I understand that the flow restricter can be removed but that was unnecessary for my needs and keeping the flow restricter saves water and adds shower time.

I am a little surprised at how much I love having an overhead shower. Highly recommended.

Its a very nice trim, i would highly recommend. It fits nice, it looks good, and it does the job...the valve is a different story, but the trim (which this product is what) is excellent!

Bought this to go with the Moen 3372 M-PACT Three function 1/2-Inch CC Transfer Valve the recommended valve for this trim based on Moen's recommendation for the fixed shower head/handheld shower head/tub combo we'd designed). The valve not only diverts the water from one location to another, it can actually turn the water off to both those locations. So be aware of that. Pull valve handle out and water comes on, push in and water goes off. Turn lever one direction, water comes out one shower head, turn other direction and water goes to the other shower head. Now keep in mind that we have a main on/off tub/shower diverter that has to be on first as that is the one connected directly to the house water line and diverts from tub to shower, with this valve I'm reviewing here as secondary to divert only the shower from one shower head to another. However, we did not expect to be able to turn anything OFF with this valve and it does have that feature.
