For the price I didn't really expect the caddy to be made of stainless steel. Was confirmed when it arrived. Packaging says "stainless steel finish." Time will tell if it will rust like the chrome versions.

I've had it for one week. This thing is exasperating. It's supposed to hang over the showerhead arm, but only ends up slipping down onto the showerhead itself whenever I actually take a shower. Things come tumbling off of it when this happens, usually only to smash my toes into oblivion. Not only that but because it lacks any means of stabilization, whenever you take the bottle of shampoo out on one side, it sways to the other until you put it back to balance it out. I wasted nearly $30 on this, not sure it's worth the time of boxing up and returning. I'm having to buy a different one instead.

Good shower caddy. I have looked around for one that doesn't slip down the shower head. I don't think they exist. It has grips on the top but doesn't keep it up on mine. I used a rubber band, you can't really notice it and that solves the problem.

Other than that it's great. Holds the larger bottles of shampoo and conditioner, soap, ect.

Update: I've had this for a year now and still no rust! Best shower caddy I've owned.

Stainless steel is the way to go, folks, if you never want to replace the caddy again in the future. Those coated caddies eventually start cracking and splitting, just as the same kind of coated wire racks for the kitchen sink do, remember? The chromed-coated ones aren't much better. They still have steel underneath that can rust and eventually come through. Either way, you have to buy a replacement about every five years or so.

The bottom of my shower head is located about 6 inches higher than my head, and I am 5 feet 10 inches tall, and for a long time we had used a Mainstay stainless-steel caddy (sold at Wal-Mart for about $10). But everything was up so high, and it was too short. It even looked funny being up so high. If you are shorter than my height, you wouldn't have liked the configuration at all.

This particular stainless-steel caddy has two shelves. The less-used stuff goes in the top and more commonly used items, such as the soap bar, in the bottom (and at a nice height). Also, please note that the sides on the top shelf are deeper so that your bottles of shampoo, etc., are much less likely to fall out of the shelf and hit your feet, toes or the shower pan. That's a big plus for us, too.

If you have a figerglass shower pan, a bottle falling and hitting it could cause a small crack that could lead to moisture seepage through the almost invisible crack and damage your subflooring.

Bottom line: If it ain't stainless, don't buy it.

It holds stuff in the shower. The taller bottles will have to go in the top rack. If it doesn't end up rusting, it is worth the money instead of buying a new, cheaper one every year.
