The one that came with the house (built in 1951) needed to be replaced, and the picture looked like the old one. It fits exactly! I even used the original screw holes to mount it. The front piece that extends away from the wall is spot welded on to the recessed piece and seems to be made of the same material as the recessed piece, which was not the case on my old one, which is horribly pitted. The stainless steel is not chrome, but still shiny. I have it next to my sink faucets that are "satin nickel" and it is not an exact match, but looks nice and not out of place.

Purchased this to replace a corroded 40 year old recessed soap dish. I liked the looks of this over others that had the bar across the top. It is metal except for the small lip at the bottom, which is plastic. Would have preferred no lip at all or at least all metal. Also, it does not come with a bracket, so if replacing an existing one as I was, save the brackets and bolts. I had to paint my old bracket as had some corrosion, but since it won't be seen, it was just to keep it from further corrosion. I have had it installed for about a month, so don't know how it will do long term, but it is certainly better than what was there before. I did buy two of these, as I plan to install the second one in my other bathroom when I fix it up.

I needed this to replace an old one after a renovatio0n. The only thing I did not like is that it came without the plastic soap tray, so I had to order it separately. Other than that this is what I was looking for.

Hopefully the stainless steel will retain its finish better than chrome. Not the most beautiful thing in the world, but it filled the hole. No irreplaceable plastic soap-dish to break and fall off and get lost, and no grab bar to encourage you to pull it off the wall. Edges of soap-dish are a little sharp for wet hands.
