Moen DN8486BN Inspirations Towel Ring, Brushed Nickel

I moved into a rental house in October 2011. The master bathroom had a little sticky hook on the wall by the sink instead of a proper hand towel holder. The hook was beyond irritating every time you touched the towel on it, it fell off. Heck, I think it fell if you exhaled in its general direction.

One of my first tasks was to replace that ineffectual, cheap hook with something more stable. I bought something at Wal-Mart that looked like it would work, but when I removed it from the package, it was so flimsy I didn't even attempt to hang it.

That's when I ordered the Moen DN8486CH Inspirations Towel Ring, Chrome from Amazon. When it arrived, I could already tell it was an improvement over the previous options. The ring felt sturdy and solid and looked nice.

Although I've never installed something like this before, it was easy to do myself. I did it in less than fifteen minutes, and that's a high estimate.

I've used it for several months now and am more than satisfied with this towel ring.

We have had this towel ring as well as the other Moen brass items (24" dual towel bar and Robe Hook" for quite a while now and they all have stood up to our use. They are good products, well made and sturdy...not wimpy.

Not crazy about the plastic piece at the intersection of the ring and bracket. It looks cheap. Also, you must have a *very* small screwdriver to install. A jewelry screwdriver basically. The matching towel bar had one of the tiny screws that was almost impossible to loosen--very annoying. Could be better designed & doesn't feel very substantial.

When this arrived, I was pleased that the towel ring came packaged nicely. The look and feel of the brushed nickel on this towel holder is really nice and the main reason I purchased it, as it also matches the ones already installed in my bathroom. However, as another reviewer mentioned, you will need one of those mini little flatheads "screwdrivers" towards the end of installation to attach the ring to the bracket. It took a little searching before I found one. (I think they should have given you one with this to make it easy for people who might not have one, or specified somewhere in the details section of amazon description but I guess for the price, that's asking a lot). Also, some might find the ring is a little stiff. Personally, I prefer that as the ring stays in place and helps to keep it from hitting the wall when you are taking off or putting the towel back on.
