The jets are the same, but the overall configuration is not, which is why I don't like this spa as well.
Using 3 suction cups rather than an over-the-edge of the tub bracket and suction cups, and with a relocation of the jet/bubble dial and the on/off switch might seem insignificant or improvements to others, but after many, many years with the original version this spa has taken some time to get used to.
One improvement the filter is now a sponge type, easier to clean than the original mesh in a frame filter.
The suction cups sometimes loosen up with the pressure from the jets and the unit shifts or starts sliding down. (And yes, I wet them and the tub wall before mounting the spa.)
Because of the not as stable mounting, two hands are needed to change from jet to bubbles (one bracing the unit, the other changing the setting.) Same for on/off.
I'll use this one, but glad I kept the old one as a backup. Our family loves it. We have a small bath tub, but it moves the water around enough that if you close your eyes you actually can believe that you are in a true whirlpool bath tub.

Wow, I got this myself 'cause it was inexpensive, small, and got so many good reviews. I just took my first bath with it. I thought, this little thing isn't going to do much for me. I was pleasantly surprised. I really felt more relaxed after I got out 15 minutes later. I just bought another for my mom. It's definately worth the price ($25). My only complaint is the 3 suction cups that hold it. I would think these would become loose over time. I'd rather have a bracket that could go over my bathtub. We'll see how it performs over time. This product was not what I first ordered. This was sent in place of another spa I ordered! I had this spa before and do not like it as much as I wanted to try a different kind. The water cannot be adjusted to where you really want it to flow! The jets did make the water move, but not enough to relieve any tired muscles. I used the unit in several different locations of my tub & just wasn't happy with it.
