Speakman VS-2007 Anystream Napa Hand-held Shower in Polished Chrome

This is the same type of cheap plastic junk you can get at any big box store for $20. The higher price and misleading description led me to believe that this was a high-end fixture made of metal; "polished chrome" indeed. I guess "shiny silver-colored plastic" didn't test as well with the focus group.

This polished brass version of the Speakman VS-2007 is just want I wanted and needed. The flow is very good (after the flow restrictor in the mount is removed see below for more info)and it attaches very easily and does not leak. Yes, the product is made mostly of plastic but at this price I would not expect solid metal. For the price this works very well much better than the Moen it replaced.

In addition, Speakman customer service is excellent. The product arrived without any instructions, but since installation was pretty intuitive none were needed. However, I did not know how to remove the flow restrictor. I emailed Speakman to ask how to remove the flow restrictor and I received response within 24 hours. Here is what I was told ... the flow restrictor is located in the bracket inside the swivel ball....if you look inside the swivel ball you will see a small white piece with a tiny black o-ring inside of it, with a pair of needle nose pliers or anything that will reach down inside pull out the black o-ring.

I am 52 years old male, I recall having speakman shower heads in my family homes growing up, they were the best at that time. I purchased (2) and returned both because they are cheap plastic china made like any you can buy anywhere. It does not pay to spend $50.00 each on these hand held shower heads when you can buy the same or better for less money at any major retailer. I tried two other handheld showerheads and I was very disappointed. One was a medium priced one, but although the water stream was strong enough, the streams were too far apart and left me with inadequate coverage. The second one was a VERY expensive, famous German made showerhead. It had no power and felt like I was standing under a light rain. I could hardly rinse off. Even after I researched and learned how to take out the flow restrictor it still was inadequate. So, I looked at everyone's reviews and decided to try the Speakman VS-2007. It is amazing! The most powerful and thorough shower I have ever had. Luckily, the shower head itself doesn't have a flow restrictor. The flow restrictor is built into the bracket, which I didn't need to use because I already had a bracket. So it was good to go right out of the box. If you need to use the bracket I suggest that you take the flow restrictor out. I don't write a lot of reviews, but was so excited after my first shower that I am writing this as I dry off!!

I like the shower head, especially the secure hand grip area and the available settings. It has good flow and sufficient power. HOWEVER, the bracket that it connects to leaks profusely! There is a a break in the rubber washer around the housing where you adjust the direction of the water. The ONLY reason I didn't send this back is because I really like the shower head and it fits into the old Delta bracket that we originally had. Speakman needs to work on their QA. The product should not have gone out of the factory in this condition!!!
