InterDesign Grand Arc Shower Caddy, Clear

InterDesign Grand Arc Shower Caddy, ClearMy mom has one of these in each of her showers and really likes them they're stable, somewhat attractive and will never rust. I bought one for my shower but discovered the shelves were too short for the personal care products purchased from places like Costco and Sam's. They sort of fit on the top shelf to either side of the shower head, but if you want to put a third bottle up there, you won't have room. Regular sized products won't be a problem, though.

I've looked for a long time for something to put in my shower that would 1)hold a lot, 2) not rust, 3) not wear out. I was initially hesitant to get this shower caddy because others I have had that mount over the shower head have continually slipped forward, which is pretty unpleasant when you're standing in the shower. So I got this Arc Shower Caddy with a little more trepidation than usual... only to be pleasantly surprised! This thing is sturdy, holds a BUNCH of stuff, obviously won't rust, and its design keeps it from slipping forward. Its even got very sturdy suction cups to prevent that from happening, but its really just precautionary. so glad to have finally found this!

Love this caddy it replaced the plastic-coated metal one I had that began to rust. It hangs too low on my shower head and hits the knob, so I have it suctioned to the wall. So far it has not fallen off although I have noticed one of the suction cups will come loose a few times.

I ordered three of these "Caddies".

Problem one...

For Caddy one, the furnished suction cups must be forcibly inserted into holes that were obviously too small.

Solution, drill out the holes to proper size, then the suction cups can be inserted.

Caddy two... Same problem, same solution...

Caddy three... Different size suction cups were furnished?... Now the holes to insert them into, are TOO BIG...

Solution. drill new holes, adjacent to the existing holes, of the proper size.

Problem two... a small plastic sleeve is furnished to prevent the caddy from sliding off the shower head pipe... It doesn't work....

I believe the pictures even show that someone installed a hose clamp around the sleeve to hold it in place..

(The hose clamp is shown in one of the accompanying photos with the ad... look closely)

My solution was to use some plastic cable ties to tighten the sleeves to the pipe..

Bottom line, the Caddies do work. The suction cups are pretty "non-functional", but tend to keep the Caddies hanging vertically...

All in all, a promising design, but obviously much is lost in implementation...

More time was spent on the design of the box, that the caddies came in, than the caddies themselves.

"Tis a shame"...

Could have been a great product... However, I doubt this review will even be read by the designer/manufacturer...

I'm very pleased with the shower caddy. I got tired of replacing the cheap stainless steel ones which rusted usually after a year or so, and the rust progressively worsened to the point the caddy was unsightly and leaving rust stains.

There are 5, 1* reviews currently, and all of the low ratings stem from problems associated with the suction cups. I also found the top suction cups to be worthless as my prefabricated shower stall stands off about 1-1/2 inches from the bathroom wall. The top two cups are positioned above the prefabricated stall whereas the bottom two contact with the shower stall. Therefore, the top suction cups have nothing to adhere to. To keep the caddy from sliding down the shower arm, I placed a thin strip of vinyl underneath a small, 316 (marine) grade stainless steel hose clamp (wanted to avoid direct metal to metal contact between shower arm and hose clamp) which is clamped around the shower arm. Photos are posted above. By placing slight pressure against the top of the shower caddy when installing the clamp, the caddy is very secure and has never moved since installing it about 1-1/2 years ago.
