Umbra Otto Automatic Soap Dispenser

Umbra Otto Automatic Soap Dispenser, NickelThis soap dispenser is plastic that's made to look like brushed nickel. The product description lists the material as "brushed Nickel" NOT SO! Otherwise, the design is attractive and so far it seems functional. However, had I known it was plastic, I would not have purchased it for the price (I paid $42.00). Feeling a bit cheated. :(

This product seems to be well-made but has a couple of critical flaws.

1) It's not white. It's off-white at best. If placed in a room with no other white items, it might pass for white but in my bathroom, it looks old and dingy fresh from the box. Let's face it, this dispenser is a fashion choice so this is a big problem.

2) After dispensing, which this automatic pump does well, soap trails off to a thin thread and sticks to the front of the unit. I have had it only one day and the front is already building a film of drying soap. Again, not a good aesthetic.

I will give this dispenser a couple more days. If the soap dribble goes away with use, I may keep it. I want to love this thing as the design looks great despite its dingy color but what's the point if it is going to look old immediately and dirty within hours?

Thought this would be perfect to go in my brand new kitchen. Was looking for stainless steel automatic soap dispenser. Does not always dispense soap and when it does work, very little soap comes out.

I purchased this for my guest bathroom. It worked just fine at first. After using it for about 5 months, it quit working!!. I tried replacing the batteries with brand new batteries and that didn't work. I tried a different brand of soap and that didn't work. I let it sit without using it for a while and that didn't work. I could not and still can not get it to work. Waste of my money. I LOVE Amazon, but not this product.

First clue should have been the battery installation you have to use a teeny tiny screwdriver to unscrew the compartment door.

no amount of fiddling with it made it work. had to empty all the soap out and reseat the batteries. still didnt work.

it goes back tomorrow.
