Shower Caddy, Chrome

Shower Caddy, ChromeAfter a lot of searching on-line and in retail stores I thought I had found a solution to shower caddies that rust or fail so quickly nowadays. The coatings on these things today is so thin, it is not hard to find someone's review noting that it started to rust within a few months or the coating began to crack and then rust.

The two items I received were different from the website description. No slip-proof ring was included (as noted in the product description) so it will probably slide down the shower spout with use. No dimensions were listed, the shampoo bottles shown are not easily identified so it was not easy to gauge the size of this thing. It is much smaller than expected.

I uploaded a picture with a ruler next to the product. The distance to the first shelf is about 11.5 inches. A 15 oz bottle of shampoo is about 8.5 inches high. If you have a shower head like the one shown in the product picture, it will not be easy to remove products from the shelf without hitting the shower head and spraying water everywhere. The width of the shelf is about 6.5 inches. Other measurements can be seen in the picture I uploaded.

The suction cup attaches at the shampoo shelf level by sliding into an inverted "V" in the wire. Unfortunately, it is directly in the middle. So the suction cup is useless as the grout line in my showers and in the product picture is also directly in the middle. There is no solid smooth surface for the suction cup to attach when it is forced to be located in one place. My other caddies have two horizontal wires so the suction cups can slide across the width of the product so as to find an appropriate full surface to stick on.

Who knows if this product is as rust-proof as the description claims. It is chrome plated steel, made in China. A magnet sticks to it so there is an iron content to the metal and so it will probably rust sooner than later. I am not keeping it to find out.
