Umbra Wishbone Rubber Soap Dish

There isn't much to say about this other than I think that it is a nice soap dish for the shower. I don't have to worry that the soap is going to sit in water and it serves its purpose of not leaving soap scum on my bathtub from the soap sitting there. I chose the one in the strange lime green color called cactus, and it is very close to the color in the picture. It is flexible rubber, therefore no need to be worried that you don't like its shape. Yes, I know it comes in weird colors, but I think that it was meant more for bath tubs and showers. My mother thought that it was cute and asked me to order two for her so that she could have some. This to me means that it isn't that terrible looking and (again) it serves its purpose well.

This is the second of these soap-dishes we've bought; we have a black one in the shower and the teal one by the sink. They are a lovely whimsical addition to our bathroom, and have inspired numerous comments and compliments.

Elegant in their simplicity, they do their job well no more soggy sticky slimy soap here! They also flex to fit the various sink niches we've put them in, don't slip out of place, and are easy to clean. I'm not surprised that Alden, the designer, won an award for coming up with these.

I must add that the teal colour bears no resemblance to the startlingly lurid green in the single-item image, though the raspberry-pink and cactus-green options are accurately depicted. The second photo here, which shows all three available colours, shows the teal version appropriately (though monitor settings may cause some variation, of course).

Warning: This is a review for lazy cleaners like me. I give it four stars because I'm a lazy person and I don't clean my soap containers very often. I bought this because I didn't want my soap to get soggy. It was great! Design is cute and friendly, and it kept my soap dry after using them, since all the water dropped off the soap instead of pooling. Well, all was happy and good until I noticed there was black mold growing around the soap dish, and I tried cleaning it using an old tooth brush to get between all the rubber bones. I failed at cleaning it on time and ruined the soap dish. Since it's made out of rubbery material, the mold penetrated the surface and now there's permanent black stain all over the bottom and it's gross. I know, it's my fault for being lazy and not cleaning it every 3 days, but once the mold gets stuck in there, it's over. I don't know how many people like to clean their soap dish every time they use it, but I normally don't clean it until I see soap gunk building up around the soap dish, which only takes less than 2 weeks for me. I tried cleaning it when I noticed the mold growing, but since the mold is now permanently embedded in it, after few days of leaving it wet, the mold grows so fast around it. It only takes few days for the mold to grow and cover the soap dish over and over again. Now I'm thinking to toss this thing and buy a new soap saver made out of glass or all plastic, that way even if I do see mold growing on the surface, I can easily clean it off without black mold stains. But if you like to clean your soap dish every few days and keep your sink dry and clean, it's a great product!!

Product is very simple yet one of the best soap holder I have had. Keeps the soap in place and prevents a soggy bar of soap. Holder stays in place and doesn't slip around. Very easy to clean.

What can you really say about a soap dish? It holds the soap very satisfactorily and it looks awesome on my bathroom sink. It's one of those things where most guests come out of the bathroom saying "What's up with that soap dish?" with a smile.

Cons:

It doesn't have a dish underneath it, so soap grim drips down onto the counter.

Somewhat annoying to clean the soap grim off of all the little fishy ribs.

I would definitely buy this again.
