I purchased this towel bar to match those already in the new house. I was disappointed in the mounting system, as there is no set screw to hold the bar to the mounting clips. You just push them over the clips and rely on friction and gravity to hold the bar in place. While this seems to work, I find it less secure than the typical mounting method that uses a set screw.
I'm in the process of returning my SECOND order for FB's Jamestown D9018SN. Each order has had a bar issue. The first was poorly turned/finished ( permanent annular markings on the bar). The second order arrived with a rolled steel, seemed bar (very cheap looking). Previously, I've ordered several FB products including 24-in. double towel bar, in-wall T.P. holder (which does NOT come with necessary installation hardware), double robe hook, etc; so I've seen what the line Jamestown satin nickel line is SUPPOSED to look like (classy). My experiences with the 18-in. bar, however, lead me to conclude: that their quality control is shoddy, or that FB is importing junk and claiming it's made in the U.S., or that third-world knock offs are being marketed thru Amazon... From now on, I will be buying locally (which, alas, is a 200-mile trip, here in Montana's hinterland) for these sort of products because it's easier than buying pig-in-poke items from unknown dealers via Amazon Marketplace and then going thru the time-consuming hassles of multiple returns. Caveat emptor.
