Grabcessories 61024 2-in-1 Grab Bar and Towel Bar, Polished Chrome

I had a professional contractor install this grab bar for my husband who had a stroke. For one thing the length of it does not allow you to install it in the stud on both sides. Most studs are 16 inches apart and this bar would only go into a stud on one side. We used the installation kit included to install the side without the stud, which said it would withstand 500 lbs even without it being installed in a stud. The very first time my husband used the bar to lower himself onto the toilet the side not in a stud came loose. He doesn't weigh 500 lbs either. I will probably be returning this bar. The only reason I got it was for my husband to be able to use it for leverage and balance in the bathroom, yet still have the towel holder. I guess it was too good to be true. I will have to buy a 16 or 32 inch bar to replace this one so it can be installed using studs on both sides. If you are looking for a sturdy grab bar for your loved one this is not going to do well due to the length not allowing a strong install on both sides.
