Moen 6302BNMoenflo XL Single Function Showerhead, Brushed Nickel

Moen 6302BNMoenflo XL Single Function Showerhead, Brushed NickelVariations of this type of shower head are used in several mid priced hotel chains which is where I first encountered them. With 2.5 gallons/minute of flow, these produce a nice and broad stream, unlike many shower heads out there.

I personally hate those multifunction shower heads that have several settings including a pulsed "massage." Who needs that crap? I don't go into the shower for a massage, I go in to get clean, and this shower head has none of the nonsense but all of the substance. Because they have no moving parts they do not break, either. And they look good, too. Who could ask for more?

I recently remodeled my bathroom and switched over to brushed nickle from chrome. I replaced a Kohler K-10282-CP with this Moen 6302BN. The Kohler was great. But this is much better. Both offered great flow and pressure, but the Moen feels much more substantial, compared to the Kohler's mostly plastic construction. The Kohler looked horrible after a month or so of use with my hard water. (although, I do have a water softener that helps) The Moen, has a more forgiving design, with a plastic face to the head, which does not show the water spotting, and the bell shape makes sure the water stays off of the metal housing. Both function great, this is just a higher quality product.

This showerhead looks great and it actually works just fine, it just doesn't have quite enough "power" for me. It falls like a very gentle rain or soft shower. I have very long hair and it seems to take forever just to get it thoroughly wet, let alone washed, and then rinsed. I think it would probably be perfect if the head (which is about 5" across) were a little smaller with the holes closer together. This showerhead matches the rest of my bathroom fixtures perfectly and it does look great, it just isn't a strong enough spray for me. There aren't a lot of affordable rubbed bronze showerheads out there and this is the second one I've tried. The first one I purchased had adjustable settings, none of which were good (a very, very fine mist you could hardly feel, or a thin "umbrella" spray from just around the outer rim which just sort of haloed your entire head, or one horrendously strong pulsing spray from the very center which seemed to bore a hole right through your scull!). So obviously, this is a much preferable option and I'm going to keep it! I'm sure I'll adjust to the softer spary eventually (it's been about a month now). This showerhead is not adjustable in any way, other than it does move up or down or to the sides about an inch or less. All that said, this IS a nice looking fixture and if you don't want a strong spray it whould probably be perfect for you!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Whatever happened to metal plumbing fixtures? Chrome used to mean there was a high-gloss finish over metal so it added beauty and durability from rusting. Now it's shiny plastic. For a fine name in plumbing like Moen I would have expected better, especially for the price. (The part that screws on the the pipe is metal.)

However, once you take out the water restriction device inside the showerhead it works very well. It feels nice and proves that those showerheads with all the different settings are a waste of time and money. The style is classical and it moves directionally well. The rubber water points make cleaning possible without having to remove the head.

Overall it's a nice showerhead but I would have liked to see it made out of metal.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I got the Moen 6302 Moenflo XL Single Function Showerhead to replace an older Moen showerhead in our upstairs bathroom. One of the first details I noticed is the Moen 6302 doesn't come with any pipe thread tape. Luckily I had some on hand to apply after removing the old showerhead.

The Moen 6302 has a chrome finish. The product details mention brass material but the outer housing is made of plastic. I was a little worried about over-tightening during installation for fear of cracking the plastic threads. However, I was able to hand tighten enough over some Teflon tape to make a waterproof coupling.

The showerhead casts a wide yet gentle flow similar to rainfall. With sufficient water pressure, this works well and provides enough force for a comfortable shower. Just bear in mind that this is a single function head don't expect to be able to adjust the flow or the force of the jets.

Overall, this showerhead looks good and provides good coverage. It tilts and turns easily (compared to my old one) and instantly adds the look of a minor upgrade to the shower. I drop a star because it is plastic and some showerheads in this price range are of much heavier quality. Otherwise, it is a solid performer.
