Umbra Hangover Metal Over-The-Door Valet Rod

I wasted money busying this item. I should have listened to the reviews saying for people to not buy it but I didn't listened. The picture here shows exactly how the hangar works. The over the door hangar only works with doors that are going to stay open all the time and not doors that close. This hangar even scratched the upper part of my door and the upper part of the door frame causing damage from using it. The hangar was not steady and at all not functional. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM AND WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Looks quite sleek and functional, unfortunately it is not engineered well. Needs assembly; which considering it's simplicity should be quite easy it's not. In fact, it cannot be correctly assembled as the parts are not manufactured to the specifications necessary to do so. Cannot be joined in such a way as to prevent bar from sliding back and forth in the brackets when in use. The plastic sleeves that are supplied in order to prevent this problem are not long enough to affix to anything. Very disappointing.

Unlike the other reviewer I think this works great. It hangs well over the door without moving or blocking the door and hold hanging clothing without problem. Be sure to measure your door to be sure it's wide enough for the rod. It doesn't keep my door from shutting and it hasn't scratched the door or the frame. Perhaps if your doors fit very tightly in their frames, this wouldn't work for you.

This item is sturdy, well made, and exactly as described. I especially like the felt pads which protect the door. The only negative is I can never close the door, not even partially. I wanted to leave the rod attached to the door in the laundry room for use in hanging wet clothes straight out of the washer, but I'd also like to be able to close the door whenever the washer is running to cut down on the noise. Great idea ... but doesn't work the way I had hoped.
